I recently read this article by blogger Lara Ramos on the Home Shopping Network blogs about making the most of your beauty products and there are so many points that she made that are awesome.
Lara talks about having a variety of products that she uses until they are gone. I totally agree with this, especially when it comes to foundation (I currently have three foundations going, as an example). I also cannot seem to get away from my dozen or so shades of red. I would never want to be caught short without my lippy!
Another point she makes is the importance of keeping your brushes clean, as this will avoid contaminating your products with bacteria (hence ruining your perfectly good eye shadows). I like to clean my brushes with very gentle shampoo, like this on from the Honest Company.
My favourite tip is the importance of displaying your makeup in a lovely way, not gathering dust at the bottom of a drawer or the bottom of a purse. She makes an excellent point about the makeup not getting damaged or exploding but I also think that by displaying your makeup, you can keep a close inventory of what you have and be very aware of when you are running out of something.
Here is how I display my makeup- I DIY’ed this tray for my desk (I posted about it here ) and have repurposed it for my bathroom. I use my Stella & Dot Pouf to keep my lipsticks all in one place- this way I can always find the perfect colour when I need it!!!
